1962 - 1966

In the Netherlands, several breeding companies start: Fomeva, Dalland, and Cofok, all owned by a meat processor.

1994

Start of using Combined Crossbred and Purebred selection (CCPS) performance data of commercial products for breeding values.

1995

Cofok and Prova merge and become Dumeco Breeding, part of meat processor Dumeco, now VION Food Group.

1999

Stamboek, Dalland, and Fomeva come together in one breeding program: Topigs

2001

Breeding for piglet survival implemented.

2003

Topigs and Dumeco Breeding merge. Almost all breeding in the Netherlands is brought together now.

2008

CT scan technology is first used to scan young boars.

2008

Topigs acquires Canadian breeding company GAP genetics, owned by food processor Maple Leaf.

2009

Start of selection against boar taint.

2012

Genomic selection first implemented. DNA information is used to calculate breeding values.

2014

Dutch Topigs and Norwegian Norsvin, both farmer-owned, merge into Topigs Norsvin.

2018

Opening of boar test and research center Delta Canada.

2023

Opening of nucleus center Innova Canada.

2024

Opening of boar test and research center Delta Norway.
