Topigs Norsvin Italia is pleased to announce the appointment of Francesco Bertacchini as Managing
Director, with effect from October 1, 2025. In his new role, he will report to Arno van der Laar, the Regional
Director of Europe. Francesco Bertacchini succeeds Gian Giacomo Grandi, who will retire at the end of
September.
Francesco Bertacchini brings extensive experience to his new position. He has been with Topigs Norsvin
since 2005, possesses an in-depth knowledge of the organization, and is well-acquainted with the pig sector.
His most recent role was Technical Director, a position he held for approximately 15 years. In this role, he
was also partially responsible for commercial tasks.
Francesco Bertacchini about his new position: “I feel incredibly privileged to take over from my highly
esteemed predecessor, Gian Giacomo Grandi. Topigs Norsvin has shown that our genetics and expertise
have made significant contributions to the industry. I am excited to begin my new role and look forward to
contributing to the further development of both the pork sector and Topigs Norsvin.”
Arno van der Laar, Regional Director Europe, highlighted Bertacchini’s qualifications: “Francesco’s deep
understanding of the Italian market, breeding, and genetics makes him the ideal candidate for the Managing
Director position in Italy. His experience and expertise will ensure that we maintain and even expand our
market leadership in the coming years and secure our strong ties with the Italian pig farming industry for the
long term.”
Van der Laar also acknowledged the significant contributions of Gian Giacomo Grandi: “During his long
tenure, Gian Giacomo played a crucial role in the successful development of Topigs Norsvin in Italy. Under
his leadership, the company became the market leader in the country, and he transformed the organization
into a valuable component of the pork production chain. We are extremely grateful for his efforts and
dedication.”
