New nucleus farm in South Africa

Topigs Norsvin is proud to present a new nucleus farm in South Africa: Rietfontein. This modern facility has a capacity of 1,500 SPF sows. Rietfontein uses frozen semen from Topigs Norsvin genetic nuclei elsewhere in the world. Therefore the genetic lag between Rietfontein and Topigs Norsvin genetics nuclei elsewhere in the world is minimal.

This nucleus farm uses the latest technology and has state-of-the-art breeding facilities, including the Live Muscle Scan. This makes the genetic progress generated by Rietfontein less dependent on imported genetics. Besides the technology there is a dedicated team of well-trained and highly skilled breeding specialists.

There is a growing demand for high health genetics in Africa. The genetics produced by Rietfontein will be distributed among the South Africa pig producers and among modern pig producers in other African countries such as Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria, Malawi and Mozambique.

This new nucleus farm is an important step for Topigs Norsvin to meet the growing demand in Africa.
