Topigs Norsvin recently opened a nucleus farm in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. This new farm, called Inovare Núcleo Genetico, has a capacity of more than 1,000 sows and will house animals from different lines. The investment of almost 7.5 million euros is an important new step in the growth of Topigs Norsvin in recent years.
The new nucleus creates additional capacity to meet the growing demand for Topigs Norsvin genetics in Brazil, where the company has become the market leader with a 34% market share. Inovare Núcleo Genetico will also contribute to additional genetic progress and ensure that this genetic progress reaches our customers in Brazil more quickly. Inovare Núcleo Genetico is also important as a supplier of breeding stock to other countries in South and Central America.
