Research Platform:

Biotech

From genetic variation to biological understanding

The Biotech platform is built at the intersection of functional genomics, molecular physiology, and advanced cell biology. It aims to discover mechanistic, cell-type-resolved, and genotype-aware biological knowledge that will contribute to our genetic progress in developing in vitro systems to understand and improve complex traits.

Modern pig breeding targets complex traits such as feed efficiency, robustness, and reproductive performance. These traits are driven by interconnected biological mechanisms which are not always fully understood.

To continue improving, it is essential to understand how genetic variation translates into biological function by studying processes at the cell and tissue level.

The Biotech Platform addresses this challenge by generating mechanistic insight that strengthens selection decisions and reduces uncertainty in complex traits.
